I am starting a band, and I would like some info on some handy sofware and soundboards. Any suggestion?

Get the free Cubase software with the Presonus interface. Good luck! Check to make sure your computer is fast enough and has enough memory to record directly to the computer with these two items.
This is probably the best offer and the way to go if your recording more than two (or plan to eventually) microphones at a time.
